To help you understand my skill set, I want to showcase my current setup. I’ve built this environment from the ground up, and it has been an incredible journey full of ups and downs. Along the way, I’ve learned so much and grown immensely.

My lab is composed of the following hardware:

Both the server and NAS are configured with RAID arrays, providing redundancy and enhanced performance.

Currently, my lab offers:

At the core of my setup, I use Proxmox as the hypervisor. It handles resource allocation, and Cron jobs are configured to back up all virtual machines (VMs) safely. Backups are stored in at least two different physical locations to ensure data safety.

At any given time, I have at least 5 virtual machines running, providing 24/7 support for personal projects—including the webpage you’re currently visiting.

  1. Primary Ubuntu VM
    • This machine hosts 25 Docker containers organized into 19 stacks.
    • It is the centerpiece of my setup, where I’ve poured in the most effort and passion. Most Docker containers are sourced from official repositories, while a few are custom-built as part of my learning journey.
    • Key services hosted here include:
      • Local DNS
      • Portainer
      • Jellyfin
      • HomeAssistant
      • Invidious
      • Various databases
  2. NGINX Reverse Proxy VM
    • I use this separate VM to run an NGINX reverse proxy, enabling secure remote access to my locally hosted services.
    • After experimenting with several configurations that avoid opening ports, I’ve settled on Tailscale, which I currently love for its simplicity and security.
  3. Domain Controller
    • This Ubuntu server runs a Linux-based domain controller. Setting this up taught me a great deal, and all my Windows VMs are successfully connected to this domain.
  4. Web Hosting VM
    • The webpage you are currently viewing is hosted on a dedicated VM.
    • It’s deployed via a Cloudflare Tunnel, ensuring secure access for both you and me.
  5. Here is a more detailed list, in no particular order, of the languages, frameworks, and tools I know and work with:
